The burgle

The holiday to-do list is massive. (although I have pulled the pin on ceiling painting and am getting a nice wee man in to do if for me , funds allowing)

I was going to post it here on the blog to keep me motivated but when I looked at it, even I laughed. It was written by a crazy person. I really want to get so much done, some starts and some finishes, some toys and some new things……reality

and I have decided to tell anyone who visits in the next two weeks that we have just been burgled ! That way I don’t have to waste any of my sewing time on cleaning.

I am a freakin’ genius!

  1. I get the vacuum out and plug it in and leave it there. Then I tell anyone who calls in "I'm just starting the cleaning". Works like a charm.

  2. I was going to say the one about the vacuum cleaner but Lisa was too quick! That's a great ploy - as long as you don't trip over it. Happy hols, Jodie.

  3. You must have read my mind I was just thinking I should write myself a list for the holidays and then when I started thinking what to write on the list I realised it was a crazy list and I was better off keeping it in my head so I won't feel like a failure at the end of the holidays LOL Good luck with your list :-)

  4. You could chalk a body outline on the floor and tell 'em Finn got the burglar but the place is still a crime scene. Tidying can only happen once the police give you the go ahead.

  5. Love all the ideas -and I have used the "vacuum-in-waiting" ploy before:). Advice from a burnt out teacher: the operative word here is HOLIDAY........do whatever you want and enjoy it!

  6. Might have to use that excuse here too!

  7. Great idea, 3 times my terribly tidy neighbour was burgled while our V. messy house, with the back door left ajar for the cat, never was. The crooks probably thought we'd already been ransacked!

  8. Man, I thought I had invented the vacuum-in-the-hallway ploy!

  9. Yes Ms Ricrac, you are a freakin' genius!
Many years ago we had the police visit after a robbery. I had to admit to the police that despite appearances the crooks had not been in my room. The shame!
    Goodluck with the list.
(And impressed with the growing rug!)

  13. That tree on the wall is gorgeous. I'm sure I must have seen it before, but just don't remember ... funny about the mess, it keeps coming back no matter how many times you clean it up.

  14. Perfect, need to remember that one.

  15. Haha I love it! Not sure it would work here at the moment though as we have the house on the market.

  16. Too funny! I've used the vacuum cleaner ploy too. Now if I could just part with my dogs I wouldn't need to vacuum every day. Sigh.

  17. Just in time for me, 4 more days at school before we are off, now I can select from this lovely list which excuse I want to use for the mess we call home lol (no matter how often I try, I always fall off FlyLady's wagon!) xoxo Enjoy the break!!!!!

  20. Gosh I only wish it was I who had done the burgling lol! I bet there is a lot of fun stuff to be had! BTW.. which holidays?! Surely you don't mean Christmas????

  21. This one is too funny, I will have to remember all of the reasons. Remember if your sewing room is too clean you will never want to work in it, because you know you would mess it up.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

  23. I just tell people that the stuff on the floor is a ANTI burgle device. If any burglar can walk, in the dark, and not fall over a tennis raquet, hockey stick or cut his foot on a piece of Lego, then he's a genius and deserves my five year old laptop!

  24. I also leave the hoover plugged in but to top that, I also fill the sink with soapy water and hide the dishes in there too ;P Guests think that I'm always cleaning! LOL

    Have a productive break.

  28. What's a vacuum cleaner? LOL! I hear keeping a clear room keeps the Chi energy flowing, doesn't seem to work over here, and you seem to very productive... You win!!
