A sickie ?

I may have woken up slightly disgruntled today. Last day of holidays and I could have sworn I have only had one week , not the two that were promised.

But when I look at the projects, I have to concede that yes, I have had two weeks off work , and yes got quite a lot done, and yes I am very lucky to work in the Education department and have quite a lot of holidays..........

BUT !!!

Today , on the very last day of holidays - I got an idea for a new softie and I have been sewing ALL day - It is kind of completely different to any softies I've done before....and it is still not quite finished and the dinner is on and I need to get a teeny bit organised for work, and maybe think about kids stuff and quickly pop to the supermarket and finish off a few spare petals for the purple flower and send a few emails and pack a parcel or two

I guess it would be pretty bad form to chuck a "softie-sickie" on the first day back wouldn't it???

  4. Bad form, but tempting! I have 7 'get ups' until my big holiday, and 101 projects just waiting for me to get started on them!

  5. Just ring the school and tell them a high up Minister (preferably one in the Education Department) has phoned you personally and told you that you haven't had enough holidays and that that since you have so much to do and so many new ideas that you are to take another week off and that they will have to manage without you.
If that fails - yep take a sickie..vbg.

Enjoy tomorrow cause I know I am...wicked grin.

  6. Look Jodie, I don't think you should be allowed anymore holidays for awhile. I mean, two weeks worth of work? The rest of us need to catch up with you!

    :)

  7. that is so impressive for 2 weeks Jodie, as for the sickie??? well I know what I would do but I won't let that sway you so I won't tell.......

  8. Who needs sleep? Keep stitching until you have to be there.

  9. Take one and tell 'em you have Sicilian relatives and The Don 'suggests' that you finish what you started.

Either that or say I told you to do it. I am always happy to be got into trouble cos I am trying to get a decent bad reputation. So far I have managed shamelessness and wickedness, I am now working on being thoroughly disgraceful and utterly scandalous. It's a tough job, but I manage.

  10. Aahhh... did I hear you whisper 'swine flu'? Surely there is a bit more mileage in that one yet and we know it is contagious so you shouldn't be around children.

  16. Umm no this softie sounds very exciting. Why aren't those kids cooking dinner and doing the shopping - priorities

  17. hmmm...it is bad, but seeing as you would technically be making something, and making = working then I think you can get away with it! I won't tell if you won't tell... and what about that poor decapitated fox head? is he going to get a body or just get nailed to a plaque on the wall? *snurk*

  19. I believe its a "mental health" day you are looking for. But if its the FIRST day after a holiday you will probably get a lot of folks asking "are you feeling better today" with a certain "tone" in their voice. A tone that means "we know you weren't REALLY sick yesterday". If you can handle that then I say Go for it woman!! Can't wait to see what you are making!!!

  20. I am the wrong person to follow on this one as I have gotten in to much trouble with "sick days" for sewing. Probably a big reason I have no outside the house job any longer ;)

You really did accomplish quite a lot in 2 weeks! Did you even sleep?

  21. I don't want to go back to work after summer is over and it's going way too fast for me and I haven't even accomplished half of what you've gotten done in two weeks. I better hurry it up. Have a great week at work and I love your designs too!

  22. One of the many delightful aspects of your part of the world is that you have more holidays coming up in practically no time. I love your schedule! Does this softie include selvedges??

  23. Tough choice!
But can you actually work if all you think about is creating a softie? I mean maybe you have too take the day of being creative, before you could do any good and be efficient at your job :-)

  24. you forgot how much you achieve at times so it is good to do the collage............now ot dream about your next holidays.......

  25. You've gotten HEAPS done!! That's awesome that you got so much achieved on your time off... can you fake being sick enough to get a certificate? ;) I guess the reality is... that you have to go back to work. :( Hope your day goes quickly so you can come home and get cracking with your new creation!!

  26. You achieved alot on your two weeks off - maybe throw a softie-sickie Tuesday!

  27. That's a lot of awesomeness for a two-week break!

  28. A Softie Sickie is waaaay more viable than an Ivan Hitchinson Midday Movie Sickie (which are the ones I remember chucking).

  29. You are one busy bee! Wow, that's all I can say. I am having trouble even threading a needle. I'm thinking at this stage you can really write your own rules, ok!!?? Can't wait to see the new softie xox

  30. love all your holiday projects...but I am wondering what this new softie is....that you really want to get finished...it must be good....
    can't wait...

  31. I should imagine after sewing all that lot, you need a day off for exhaustion!

Having said that, I'm a good girlie and have never been able to do the sickie thing. Muck about reading blogs when I should be working, yes, but not the sickie thing....

  32. I agree - it would be bad form - but nothing goes faster than holiday time - I think the clocks work different when we are off.

Hope you get everything you want done, done.

    Happy crafting!

  33. You sure got a lot done. I feel I am much more creative during holiday times as school has a tendency to suck you dry! I am sure you didn't let Annie face the first day back without you-especially wearing your new very swish scarves!

  34. You have been so productive!! hehe - must try one of those "softie sickies" :-)

  35. i knew you'd get lots done over the holiday, but wow...i'm impressed. those scarf fabrics are so awesome...what is it about aussie designers? maybe it's the water, some special drink you all have?
and your nurse....she's so great! i'm gushing all over. sorry.
keep dreaming about the next holiday to help you get through the work!
