Excuse me doctor, I think thats my lung on the floor

O.K, so without being too graphic I have been sick ! I could go into involved explanations, but really - do you want to know the colour of my phlegm? Funnily enough, the doctor did...and my graphic description had him reaching mighty quickly for the prescription pad.

While I have been busy coughing up internal organs and sandpapering the end of my nose off with tissues the rest of the world kept on doing its thing and small shots of happiness were delivered to my bed / couch by way of the postal service and the I-know-mum-is-trying-to-sleep- so-I will-just-play-my bongo-drums-quietly teenage boy.

My blog VIP package from Amitie

A great gifty swap from Sooz big adventure

Gorgeous wool fabric from Cass who scored big at the op-shop and thought I could use some for softies (what a darling). Thanks Cass.

Delicious new fabrics from Retro Mummy

A double whammy of goodness from Robyn who sent me this great bag when I won a giveaway on her blog and also this scrumptious apron as part of my Pay-it-Forward gift. The attention to detail is amazing , and I love the covered button closure on the bag and of course being a collector of aprons , I really love this gift.

You know in blog land you often see posts where people say -"Oh there was also chocolate in the parcel but I ate it before I could take a photo" ...yes, well with me it is a bit like that with selvedges, so yes I did receive a parcel of selvedges from Christie as well but they have already been consumed by the big project.

I am thinking of just randomly hanging out at the two patchwork shops in town and approaching customers as they leave ....."pssst got any spare selvedge........?" I mean I have had the look down pat , disgusting bag-lady dressing gown worn over any odd assortment of clothes, hacking cough, questionable hygiene, breath of death.....

"come on, help a chick get back on her feet......anything you can spare....just to tide me over...I used to be like you , you know, I had it under control........c'mon , just a few inches.......

  3. Jodie, hope you are starting to feel better. Lotsa great stuff in the mail. The Selvedge Lady!! While at Grad school, we had a scruffy man who wore a gold cordoroy jacket year round (snow or sun) asking for spare change. He was known as the scarecrow man!

  13. I hope you're feeling better soon. There's nothing worse than coughing up body parts - you never know when you may need them again.
Lovely presents too - you are lucky.

  14. Oh, you, poor, thing! (with a long pause in between!)

At least you had some lovely goodies delivered to your bed. Did you have a little bell you could ring so bongo drum boy could be at your beck and call - or couldn't he hear you??? I hope you are better soon, Kathryn.

  16. Lots of nasty things around, I hope you are getting better. I've got a little bit of selvage stash happening. I've got a special easter basket kept by the sewing machine just for you. Hope Miss Eloise has been keeping you distracted.

  17. I hope you are on the mend very soon!
My husband is always very proud of his phlegm. When he is ill he likes to invite me to the bathroom to view the latest installment in the phlegm saga. True love I suppose.

  18. Why do I have the feeling that your bedclothes are made purely of selvedges?

I hope you get better soon and are freed from the evil grip of the Anti-selvedge kryptonite. Once more, SuperSelvedge Woman will be back in action!

  19. Sniggering over here at the image of you harassing the poor shoppers at your patchwork stores! Sorry you've been poorly though - hope you are fighting fit soon!

  20. Oh no, Jodie!

Perhaps YOU are the culprit behind my cooties! Maybe we should just give up and hang out on the couch together like an overworked cootie factory.

I'm very jealous of your friend who shares wool! And I expect great things with the robot and tiny cars fabric! Get better soon so we can peek at what you have planned for them!

Every time I cut off a selvedge I think of you. I'll start a little "Jodie bag" and keep collecting for you.

  24. I promise whenever I cut off selvedges to keep them for you, as long as you ger better soon and keep those germs over your side of the world...

  25. D'yer think the sickness is caused by the lack of selvedges coming your way? Maybe we should have a whip round in blogland...after all, we really don't want you to have to cough the other lung up.

Maybe you should get that son of yours to busk with his bongos outside the fabric shop and get paid in selvedges...just a thought :)

  28. Glad you are on the mend and have had lots of postal cheerfulness headed your way. Good luck with "busking" for selvedges-I think soon you are going to have enough to fill a room for them like the girl in Rumpelstilskin(or however you spell his silly name!)

  35. Oh my, I hope you're feeling better soon. Sounds a lot like the nasty case of brochitis that set up camp in my chest a couple of years ago.
At least you have fun 'pretties' to distract you from the annoying cough.

And I can't stop laughing at the mental picture I have of the selvage junkie, standing outside the quilt shop, begging for hand-outs. LOL

    Take care.
    Kimberly :)

  36. Don't laugh (it might hurt) but I DO ask my customers for their selvedges. Especially those quilt backs - lots of luscious selvedge there. Now I just need to get the pile in an envelope and to Post Office - this week I promise!

There's a rainbow of phlegm at my house too this week - I hope you are back to good health soon!
